Protomed grant boosts medication innovation

The North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has awarded one of four ‘Proof of market’ grants worth £20,000 to pharmaceutical design company, Protomed.

Specifically designed to support innovative projects in their early stages, the sought-after grant will enable Cheshire-based Protomed to carry out extensive market research into new developments in telehealth and medication management for the healthcare sector.

Protomed develops drug packaging and management solutions and is best known for its Biodose™ Total Medication Management System. The company’s monitored dosage packaging is designed to counteract the problem of medication error in care homes, hospitals and the community.

“This grant will bring us one step closer to refining the future direction of Biodose technology through essential market feedback and new product testing,” says Norman Niven, CEO of Protomed. “Grants from bodies such as the NWDA are vital for young and innovative companies like us, as we explore new avenues that could transform the future of healthcare.”
