PRESCRIPTION 2 YOU DOUBLES TURNOVER IN 16 MONTHS WITH BIODOSE- October 2011

Clacton-based pharmacy, Prescription 2 You, has announced a 100 per cent increase in turnover since taking on the Biodose monitored dosage system (MDS) in June 2010. The business, which started in 2008, now serves 1,000 beds in 60 care homes, with repeat business running at a rate of close to 100 per cent.

Prescription 2 You director, Deepak Patel, spotted the benefits of Biodose for increasing medication compliance while using its predecessor, Nomad. He said: "Biodose is an incredibly advanced system so we are not surprised at its popularity among our care home and domiciliary customers, but it has also made life much easier for the pharmacy.

"We have had tremendous feedback from across our customer base in terms of increased medication compliance, and we fully expect Biodose to double our turnover again in the next 12 months. In fact, we aim to serve 200 care homes by December 2012."

Biodose is the first tried and tested MDS in the world to accommodate liquid medicines alongside tablets and capsules. Prescription 2 You administers Clacton-based care home York House with the personalised medication packaging system, including MAR sheets customised to each patient. Since implementing Biodose, York House improved medication compliance by more than 90%, as well as cutting drug round times by 60 per cent and waste by 75 per cent.
