PROTOMED'S MARK COLLINS AND DETERMINED DOZEN SURVIVE GRUELLING FUNDRAISER FOR FALLEN FRIEND- August 2011

Protomed's Mark Collins has led a team of twelve in the gruelling London Triathlon, raising over £19,000 for their close friend Chris Duncan who died tragically of cancer when he was only 26. This is the second triathlon the team has completed in its bid to raise £25,000 for The Royal Marsden cancer charity which supports the specialist cancer hospital that treated Chris until he lost his battle with cancer last year. "Losing Chris to cancer hit me and all his friends very hard," commented Mark, "you just don't expect it in your twenties. Training hard for the triathlon has been therapeutic for us. As well as knowing we're helping other cancer sufferers like Chris, it's brought us closer together as friends and helped motivate us through the highs and lows of an intense training schedule." Mark and 'Team Duncs', named in memory of their close friend Chris Duncan, completed a 10km run, 40km bike ride and 1.5km swim in an impressive three hours. Contributions towards their £25,000 target can be made at www.justgiving.com/cduncs.
