Infection Control
Infection Control in healthcare settings including Pharmacies and Car Homes is becoming increasingly important with a much higher level of surveillance and monitoring for infection causing bacterial such as MRSA and C-diff. The formation of the Care Quality Commission in April 2009 who are the independent regulator for health and social care in England highlight the increased inspection and enforcement on establishments in this area. One of the key elements within the inspection of care establishments will be the attention to infection control procedures.
The major factor in infection control is bacteria that is passed through hand contact and handling of equipment and products in the healthcare setting. Therefore there is a need for designing infection control into products in order to either make them more hygienic or require less handling.
With this in mind, Biodose has a number of features that act in addition to standard infection control practices:
Biodose will be delivered in single pre-sealed tamper evident pods. Therefore the pods will only be handled once when the medication is taken and thus removes the possibility of patient to patient or carer to patient transfer of bacteria.
Because the Biodose pods are sealed, no extra or tertiary dispensing is required by care home staff.
Biodose also incorporates BioCote, a revolutionary technology that reduces bacteria by up to 99.9% on the surface of the products. Therefore the product itself will reduce the potential of becoming a source for cross-infection. BioCote has been shown to reduce bacteria loadings by 95.8% within the Heart of England NHS trust and is the only technology to have been shown to have this effect in a real life situation.
With all these features users can have total confidence in the proven effect of the Biodose system in assisting the standard infection control procedures if the healthcare establishment and therefore give a positive health outcome to the patients involved.
