FAQ's
Due to the patented technology of the Biodose Monitored Dosage System, the trays are able to handle both solid and liquid medication as the pods are sealed air-tight during the prescribing process. This means that liquid medication will not leak and the trays can handle both solid and liquid medication within the same system.
Biodose is the first Monitored Dosage System that is able to handle both liquid and solid medications. In addition to this the Biodose Virtual Assistant Software, controls the complete dispensing of medication into final containers and therefore no further dispensing is required (i.e. measuring onto spoons etc.).
Patient pictures will also be printed (where available) on the final packaging and so this reduces the potential for incorrect administration and increases compliance monitoring of medications.
The software can generate any size of patient passport and MAR chart. Biodose provides charts in colour with actual drug pictures and can include a body map to aid with application of externals.
Yes, please contact the Biodose team at info@biodose.co.uk or by phone at +44 1260 292840 and we will arrange someone to contact you by return to help with the full implementation process.
The Biodose system is quicker to dispense due to the configuration of the pods, usage with current care home/community users will increase item numbers due to incorporation of liquid/creams and therefore increase reimbursement fees.
The Biodose system is also much easier for users to handle thus helping retain Pharmacy customers.
It is also controlled by the Biodose software which enhances the flexibility and control of the complete system.
If you would like to have the Biodose system for your Care Home, please ask your supplying pharmacy to contact us for implementation of the system and we can work with the pharmacy to enable you to receive Biodose quickly and easily.
However, if you would like some contact details of a Pharmacy in your area that is already using the system, please contact us on info@biodose.co.uk and we can help you locate a suitable pharmacy.
Biodose has a number of features that act in addition to standard infection control practices:
Biodose will be delivered in single pre-sealed tamper evident pods. Therefore the pods will only be handled once when the medication is taken and thus removes the possibility of patient to patient or carer to patient transfer of bacteria.
Because the Biodose pods are sealed, no extra or tertiary dispensing is required by care home staff.
Biodose also incorporates BioCote, a revolutionary technology that reduces bacteria by up to 99.9% on the surface of the products. Therefore the product itself will reduce the potential of becoming a source for cross-infection. BioCote has been shown to reduce bacteria loadings by 95.8% within the Heart of England NHS trust and is the only technology to have been shown to have this effect in a real life situation.
