Dispensing Doctors

As a Dispensing GP, Biodose has a number of distinct advantages for you. The Biodose Total Medication Management (ToMM) system provides an innovative way of managing liquid medicines in the community whilst replacing outmoded MDS (Monitored Dosage Systems) technology. It is the first system in the world with the ability to simultaneously handle solid oral and liquid medications.

Biodose enables you to provide a user-friendly patient pack to patients, with individually labelled tamper-evident pods which can be kept within the sealed tray

or removed individually when it's time to take the drugs.

Each individual pod contains important information such as patient name, date, time of day and individual drugs contained within the pod.

The tamper evident seals provide the ideal way to prevent spillage and whilst the seal is strong, they can be easily removed by your arthritic patients.

For patient at risk of infection, Biodose contains built-in BioCote protection, helping to prevent against MRSA.

Biodose is dispensed to patients in a Biodose Combi-Patient Packs contain Patient Pack Cartons (with a viewing window to see patient details), Trays with pre-fitted removable Pods (28 pods in each tray) and a tamper-evident Seal.

Each Combi Patient Pack is produced by dispensing drugs directly into each pod whilst in its tray, whilst producing the printed patient Seal for the tray and pods, directly from the Biodose Software. The Tray and Seal are then placed together in the Biodose Sealing Unit and heat sealed to secure the Pods into the Trays and forming the tamper-evident seal over every Pod.

During the production process solid oral tablets and capsules are placed directly into the individual Pods whilst in the Tray with liquids being added using the Biodose Stepper Pipette, which accurately delivers precise adjustable volumes (between 1-5ml) directly into each Pod.

The Stepper Pipette is quick and easy to use, with the syringe able to hold up to 60ml and rapidly repeat when adding liquids to individual Pods. A range of Pipette Tips enable liquids of varying viscosities to be handled and Transfer Containers for temporary storage are available to speed up dispensing.

Putting Pharmacists at the frontline of infection control

With MRSA being an important issue in Care Homes and for patients at risk at home, the incorporation of BioCote into Biodose Pods, provides built-in protection against MRSA.

Patient Use

Patients or their carers can see at a glance when medication is required. The individual Pods can be quickly and easily pushed out of the Tray and when the seal is removed, the patient can take their medicine directly from the Pod, removing the need for medicine cups or spoons.
